Lead Preschool Teacher - Calvary Children’s Center

The Teacher shall prayerfully help students obtain the foundational attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their readiness for life-long learning as they develop into mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory to God.​This position is a 12-month position and hours can vary during the summer months.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Reflect the purpose of the Center which is to help young children “grow in wisdom and stature and favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52) in such a way that honors Christ in every activity.
  • Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ.
  • Cooperate with Director and Executive Team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the Children’s Center.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom, on Center premises, and during field trips for a good learning environment.
  • Plan ahead by maintaining a lesson plan book with age-appropriate activities
  • Maintain, a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
  • Plan a program as required by the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services licensing standards and challenging each child to grow and learn according to his/her individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child:  spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance records
  • Keep students, parents and administration adequately informed of progress, deficiencies, or incidents involving each child.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, and administration.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, faculty, and parent meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
  • Inform the Director/Executive Team in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or Development OR
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution and at least 12 semester hours in Early Childhood Education AND

Fry Cook

The purpose of the Fry Cook is to assist Chef at the fryer. During down times, the Fry Cook may be called upon to help in any area of the Cafe.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assists Chef at fryer by preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Stocks freezer with all items needed for deep fryer
  • Assists in stocking rest of station with condiments, to-go containers, sauces, and grill items
  • Cleans and sanitizes fryer on a monthly basis
  • Cleans and sanitizes work area at end of shift
  • Other duties as assigned – all other duties will be assigned by Manager.

NXT Kids Childcare Worker

NXT Kids Childcare Worker

This is a part-time opportunity. Hours vary from 6 to 11 hours per week. NXT Kids Childcare Workers provide high-quality childcare for infants through 4-year olds while parents are engaged in Christian formation experiences at Calvary. It is expected that every childcare worker continues growing and maturing in their relationship with God by regularly attending a service or classes at Calvary Church that does not interfere with their commitment as a childcare worker.

Current Dates and Times:

  • Tuesdays from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • Every other Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Other opportunities will be announced one month in advance.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a lifestyle keeping with Christian character and values.
  • Represent Calvary’s Children Ministry in a way that honors God.
  • Arrive on time whenever scheduled.
  • Provide safe, secure and professional childcare that allows different ministries at Calvary Church the opportunity to involve parents while carrying out their mission.
  • Know and adhere to all Children’s Ministry policies and procedures.
  • Create and promote a welcoming environment for all kids and their families.
  • Make sure every child has an appropriate tag and has been checked into class and accounted for in check-in book.
  • Keep proper discipline in rooms and in large group activities.
  • Engage with the kids through age-appropriate games, crafts and other activities and help them understand God’s love and purpose for their life.
  • Recognize when a child has a special need and be accommodating to the best of your ability in the situation.
  • Observe for food allergies and be cautious with kids during snack time.
  • Change diapers and/or assist kids in the bathroom.
  • Clean and organize rooms after every childcare event.
  • Fill out Incident Reports as needed.
  • Communicate with Childcare Leader for monthly work schedule agreement.
  • Use Planning Center to confirm attendance for events scheduled to work.
  • Attend meetings, Summit Event and Children’s Ministry trainings.
  • Dress appropriately to work with kids, sit on the floor and be active.
  • Inform Childcare Leader in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any task or responsibility.
